Back in the UK and UK AMA 2010 – 2 weeks on…
Just over 2 weeks ago I was on a flight bound for London Heathrow. After being delayed en route in Muscat, I had prepared myself to spend the night in Heathrow’s Terminal 3, knowing that I would miss my connecting train up to Manchester. Services would resume at 6am the next day. However, I was completely surprised to see my parents as I exited the Heathrow terminal. After hearing that I would miss my train to Manchester they decided to make the 4 hour journey to pick me up!
I spent a few days in Ashton and adjusted to the time difference; India being 8 hours ahead. For the first couple of days I was waking up at 5am!
It has been nice catching up with people back in the UK and the weather is much better than when I left in January. I am lucky to have spent some time in India and feel that I understand the country of my ancestors a little bit more. It was also great to connect with lots of new people. I would encourage you all to make the effort and spend time in India, not just exploring what the country has to offer but also to consider what difference you can make there!
Back in the UK, work is very busy and it’s a case of responding to and chasing emails like never before! I was lucky to attend the Asian Music Awards 2010 and take some photographs back stage on the ‘blue’ carpet. See some of the pictures below. There are some familiar faces you may recognise including Jay Sean and the Sugababes. The UK Asian Music scene was well represented and the standard of the event raised the bar for others to follow…
